I am a Vancouver-based litigator with a broad range of experience representing clients in commercial, insurance, product liability litigation, and class actions, and act as an advisor and negotiator in Aboriginal law matters.I work to provide clients with effective guidance in Aboriginal law matters, advising First Nations, industry, and government clients on the implications of Aboriginal rights and title on resource development. I provide counsel to both industry and First Nations communities in the negotiation of impact benefit agreements (IBAs) and agreements with the Crown. I have advised clients with applications before the Canada Energy Regulator. I have also helped guide clients engaged with environmental assessment of projects before the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada and BC Environmental Assessment Office. Clients turn to us for our help in negotiating agreements that build partnerships and foster good working relationships so that projects may move forward with the recognition of the duty to consult and accommodate Aboriginal peoples.As a courtroom lawyer, I have represented clients before all levels of court in British Columbia and before tribunals, including the British Columbia Utilities Commission. I have acted as counsel in the significant Aboriginal rights and land title trial, Tsilhqot’in Nation v. British Columbia. I have represented clients in a variety of commercial disputes and class actions involving consumer products, deceptive/misleading marketing, and government and institutional negligence. I have also has represented clients in complex personal injury matters.Outside the courtroom, I advocate for clients subject to administrative and regulatory proceedings, including the discipline of members of the Law Society of BC, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC, and students enrolled at private and public secondary and post-secondary institutions.
