    Dhaka, Bangladesh
    Covering the aftermath of Cyclone Sidr in 2007 deeply affected the then-young photographer and he was determined to dedicate his life to documentary photography. Since 2012 he has been following the Rohingya refugees crisis - one of the greatest humanitarian disasters of the present day. A photograph of his detailed coverage of the crisis on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border featured on the cover of the August 2019 issue of National Geographic Magazine and his work is also in the permanent collection of the Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts (KMOPA) in Japan. Asad has also worked on extensive documentation of the collapse of the Bangladeshi garment factory Rana Plaza in 2013, titled “Cost of Slavery”, and the consequences of the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Nepal in 2015. By means of photography, he is determined to document and draw attention to contemporary social and environmental challenges and their impacts on humanity, humanitarian disasters, and the evolving effects of climate change.
