For Summer 2022, I had the privilege to serve as Program Coordinator for Summer on the Cuyahoga. SOTC, as it is affectionately abbreviated, is Cleveland's preeminent internship program for undegraduate students. This year, 62 students from Allegheny, CWRU, Colgate, Cornell, Denison, Oberlin, Ohio Wesleyan, and U. Chicago were matched with one of our 33 employment partners. These employers spanned several industries, including but not limited to: Aging, civics, clothing donations, community development, education, engineering, fine arts, food sustainability, health care, information systems, innovation, job-coaching, music, non-profits, performing arts, private equity, and sustainable finance. Outside of their full-time, nine-week long paid internship, four all-cohort events and 40 non-mandatory SOTC events are made available to our students. These events encompass civic engagement (i.e. City Club of Cleveland's Social Justice Forum & Lunch), environmentalism (i.e. Edgewater Park beach clean-up with DrinkLocalDrinkTap), fine arts (i.e. Tour of 78th Studio West), music (i.e. Concerts at CLE Institute of Music, R&R HOF, and Wade Oval), sports (i.e. Cleveland Guardians) and much more in between. In total, we had two (2) interns attend 20 or more non-mandatory SOTC events, thirteen (13) interns attend 15-19 non-mandatory SOTC events, and forty (40) interns attend 10-14 non-mandatory SOTC events. In my role as Program Coordinator, I drove these high attendance numbers by i) launching an event registration system via Google Suite; ii) monitoring RSPV(s) and reaching out to waitlist registrants; and iii) organizing carpooling to and from events.Our flagship event -- the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Collegiate Career & Commnunity Leader Mixer -- had nearly 200 professionals and students in attendance. SOTC strives to expose our interns to all Northeast Ohio has to offer in the hope that they will strongly consider returning to the region post college/university graduation.

As a requirement of Case Western's MSW program, I completed my field placement for the 2021-2022 academic year at Rocky River Municipal Court (RRMC). In Fall 2021, I worked 20 hours a week and increased that total to 25 hours a week in Spring 2022. I was supervised by Community Control Officer Molly Smith. In my day-to-day work, I fulfilled the functions of a CCO. I completed pre-sentence investigations (PSI) with defendants in-person and over-the-phone, made recommendations as to conditions of the defendant's community control, and shared my findings with the Judge/Magistrate in court. From that point forward, I conducted first appointments wherein the rules of commmunity control were reviewed and signed and scheduled the defendant for monthly check-ins. I oversaw my own docket of defendants in addition to covering for full-time CCOs when they were sick, taking PTO, or had an emergency come-up. On multiple occasions, I had the oppportunity to perform a verbal/written victim impact statement as ordered by Marsy's Law. Over the course of my field placement, I closed many files of defendants who fulfilled all conditions and put out a capiases for those who violated their conditions. All in all, I saw that the CCOs, Judge/Magistrate(s), and RRMC staff are responsible for reducing recidivism and instilling a self-belief in defendants that they were capable of being upstanding citizens in their community.

Though I worked for ASIA Inc. in a part-time role for a short period of time, I was tasked with assembling C-suite and International Community Health Center reports, attaching them to agenda for monthly Board of Directors meetings, and acting as assigned notetaker for these sessions. When not working directly with ASIA's CEO, I assisted the community and civic engagement department in mobilizing for events like our partnership with Greater Cleveland RTA to provide walk-up vaccinations at Asia Plaza’s Lunar New Year celebration. Lastly, I had the privilege and responsibility of conducting significant outreach with AAPI elected officials and non-profit leaders across Ohio in advance of ASIA Inc.'s AAPI Advocacy Day on April 5th, 2022. Adjacent to my work with ASIA Inc., as part of Case Western's Interprofessional Education (Collaborative Practice course, I worked with a team of medical, nursing, and dental students to prepare 10 combined health care power of attorney / living will documents for Cantonese, Mandarin, and Korean-speaking elderly at Asian Evergreen Apartments on Payne Ave. in Cleveland's AsiaTown.

Over the course of 10 months, I worked with two of Advisory Board's memberships: the Physician Executive Council (PEC) and the Quality Reporting Roundtable (QRR).For PEC, I most notably drove multi-month research cycles for both our Academic Medical Group Executive Retreat (October - March) and Independent Radiology Forums (July - September). By interviewing leaders in both of these domains, I identified best practices for burnout prevention, redesigning compensation and governance structures, and messaging quality to stakeholders. Then, I collaborated with said leaders to prepare their presentations for our in-person meetings.For QRR, I assisted with final rule reading. In November, I covered changes made to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule as found in the link(s) below. I also assisted members in preparing for their MIPS PI Reporting by completing scorecard reviews. In Spring 2020, I covered the CMS' Interoperability and Patient Access Rule, as well as ONC's Information Blocking Rule.
