I worked as a full stack web application engineer using React.js, a Java REST API, POSTGRES, REDIS, Hibernate, running in Docker containers on Amazon's AWS Cloud. During my time, I made significant contributions in engineering our customer bug report pipeline and major application features. I worked on integrations with IMAP, AWS services (Elastic, S3), and Gmail and O365 APIs. I also contributed to our Gradle, CircleCI, Jenkins based deploy system, as well as participating in creating stories and documentation. Towards the end of my tenure, I was tasked to plan an initiative to increase our observability and monitoring capabilities. This work included seeking out the latest research on best practices, attending trainings on the New Relic monitoring platform, and helping the team identify current issues and milestones to address them.

I was a Software Development Intern at Palo Alto Software for the summer of 2018. I participated in Agile/Scrum Software Development, I wrote unit tests for my work using JUNIT and Mockito. I also participated in estimation and design, fixed bugs and released full stack features to support the Outpost collaborative email application. My most significant contribution to the project during that time was to implement a bulk operation API that allows a user to archive, trash, assign, spam, or move a group of conversations while maintaining a stable user experience for any observing collaborators using websockets.

Every summer for the last four years, I have worked for a weekend as a lifeguard for the Autism Rocks summer camp. The core of this position is hiring and scheduling a team of lifeguards that will ensure the best treatment of and care for swimmers who experience autism. As a team, we evaluate the swimming location each year to identify possible risks, choose the best viewing locations, and continually review and refine our process over the weekend. Our goal is to provide the safest and most enjoyable environment for the campers and their families that we possibly can.

As a student ITC for the College of Arts and Sciences, I worked on a team of students who assist full-time ITCs in maintaining computer systems for students and faculty. This included installing and maintaining software, hardware setup, and providing phone support for users. During my time with the City of Eugene, I have also worked as a Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, and Fitness Instructor. I worked with a team of lifeguards to ensure the safety of up to 100 patrons (in my capacity as a Head Lifeguard) and up to 1,100 patrons (in my capacity as a Lifeguard). I trained new employees on our POS System and worked with them to teach Customer Service skills. I also maintained and enhanced my skill set by attending weekly or monthly trainings, keeping up to date on the latest Red Cross CPR changes, and practicing problem solving in emergency situations.

While at the YMCA, I worked as both a swim instructor and a lifeguard. As a lifeguard, I worked on a team to ensure the safety of patrons at all times, practiced problem solving in emergency situations, and provided a positive atmosphere for patrons to enjoy. As a swim instructor, I worked one-on-one and with groups of children to teach swimming skills. My duties included writing lesson plans, inventing games, and finding new and novel ways to educate while entertaining.

At the Tamarack Wellness Center, I worked as first as a lifeguard and swim instructor. My duties included maintaining a safe and positive atmosphere, assisting clients in navigating the facilities, making individual lesson plans for my students, and keeping parents and guardians updated with each student's progress. As a lesson coordinator, I matched up students to instructors based on learning style, personality, and each instructor's experience.
