As an Ecology and Monitoring Intern, I was part of small groups (2 to 4 people) who completed annual geomorphic and ecological monitoring visits to RES stream and wetland restoration sites. Here we used basic land surveying techniques to capture stream geomorphology as well and using other techniques for stream characteristic data collection, such as pebble counts. With this data, I completed crosssection overlays and stream morphology tables (ER, W/D, etc) using bankfull and low top of bank calculations. In addition, I collected field data from various groundwater wells, flow gauges, and stage recorders. During my time there, RES decided to add water quality monitoring to some of its newer sites. Here I was trusted to head the calibration of the water quality probe (YSI) and oversaw the in-situ water quality testing at one of RES's mountain sites. Finally, I also assisted in the wetland delineation of a 200+ acre site in Johnston County by running Arrow GPS systems.

A student research assistant under Dr. Steven Hall for the Aquaculture group in the NCSU BAE Department. I worked with Dr. Hall on a national-level review of the use of constructed wetlands across engineering disciplines and industries. Under Dr. Hall, we have specifically looked into the use of constructed wetlands in treating Aquaculture waste effluent. I have created an initial formal reference list for the literature work and gathered data to understand general reduction values in nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended solids and to also understand the different ways that researchers have been documenting their information. This will later be used to set regulations and base levels for constructed wetland data analysis and construction. I have also assisted in graduate student work, specifically in setting up experiments to look at how the hydraulic loading rate affects the uptake of algae by oysters.

A temporary Intern position in the Geotechnical Engineering and Water Resources departments. While in the Geotechnical branch I participated in the annual inspection of Lock and Dam 1, 2, and 3 on the Cape Fear River and reviewed the clean up of TCE in the groundwater of the former Charlotte Army Missile Plant (CAMP). Under the Water Resources Department, I assisted in data acquisition of basin-wide inflows and required outflows at Falls and Jordan Lake, John H. Kerr, and Philpott Lake.

A research assistant to Graduate Student Allison Deviney under Dr. John Classen for the NCSU BAE Department. I was a member of a 6 person team to further nutrient recovery and management of animal waste products, geared toward the North Carolina Swine Industry and reducing the environmental impact of such waste on North Carolina. I assisted in running lab tests and experiments and well as running tests independently while gathering and entering data into hard and electronic copies. During the time that the team was moving labs, I cleaned, organized, and helped design the new lab. I also attended the three day NH3 Fuel Conference in Pittsburg, PA with the team as the only undergraduate research member.

While at the Hill of Beans Coffee Shop at NCSU I worked as both a Barista and Cashier. I managed orders and customer needs in a fast pace, high-volume coffee shop. While maintaining regular duties such as cleaning, organizing, and stocking, I also regularly prepped for the next morning's shift and started closing procedures. During the semester night shift I was often the most senior employee present on the premises and so also managed and provided support to junior employees Finally, I provided quick, efficient, and courteous customer service.
