I have wanted to become a teacher since I was in first grade. During my early education, I scored lower than my peers. I struggled in school and was told I "would be lucky to graduate high school." I have dyslexia, dysgraphia, and ADHD, unfortunately, it went undiagnosed until college. But, I believe the LORD has used my experience to fuel my passion towards teaching. My teaching philosophy is rooted from John 13:34-35. Pledging to love the way He loves me by picking up His cross each day to intentionally serve, teach, disciple, love, and care for my students. In my first two years of teaching, I created the environment I dreamed of as a kid; my students left every day feeling loved, safe, capable, and cared for. Spiritually, my goal for students to end kindergarten knowing they are cared for and endlessly loved by our God who has their hairs numbered. Academically, my students have found joy in reading starting early December, excitement in sharing their creative writing stories in early February, social-emotional learning, memorizing scripture, and praying bold prayers. I believe that learning is easier if the teacher builds relational equity, therefore, building relationships is a major part of my classroom. I find joy in differentiating for students and have created many resources of my own. In doing this, my most effective strategy has been modeling-I do and you watch, guided practice-we do together, group practice-you do together+repetition, and independent connection-you do and I watch/you do it alone." In almost every lesson I teach, my goal is to include every type of learner. For example, when learning a new letter I introduced the picture of a letter, name and sound, used sign language, build it with a manipulate, sing a song I wrote, write it, watch a Jack Hartman video, and ask students for examples of things that start with this letter. I love teaching and the joy of learning more everyday. I consistently look and listen for new ways to be more effective in my classroom. My dream work environment would be active in mentorship and discipleship even in the midst of a busy year.Credentials:California State University, San MarcosB.A. Liberal Studies K-8 EducationDepth of Study: History Graduated Spring, 2021 Overall Cumulative GPA: 3.6CSUSM Dean’s List six consecutive semestersCBEST Certification Completed 08/20/2020CSET I-III Waiver through CSUSM Certificate of Clearance valid until 02/01/2025Lead Kindergarten Teacher - Valley Christian School: 08/2021 - 06/2023
