The Chief of Staff is responsible for providing professional, confidential, and strategic support to the Dean of Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, and will serve as the administrative liaison between the Dean and campus and community individuals, serving as the Dean’s representative for a wide range of Fulbright College activities, initiatives, and functions.

– Direct communication strategy in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas, which includes six executives, 19 departments, and 40+ research/academic programs, alongside two director-level peers and four direct reports– Advise dean and associate deans on executive communication, including media training, talking points, presentation support, project proposals, and Freedom of Information Act inquiries– Collaborate with public and private partnerships, including the City of Fayetteville, State of Arkansas, Alice L. Walton Foundation, and Walton Family Foundation– Develop media and constituent relations strategy to support 9,000+ students, resulting in a 77% email open rate, 29,000 page views, 1,200+ congratulatory messages from government representatives, and an estimated 3.49 million social media impressions since December 2022– Evaluate social media performance and implement a new strategy, which has organically grown Facebook page profile visits by 143% and Instagram page profile visits by 201%

– Teach undergraduate public-speaking courses and coach students to achieve effective speaking goals with measurable results– Develop innovative lectures and instructional support on verbal and nonverbal communication, research, language selection, organization, and visual aids

– Manage corporate communications calendar by advising leadership to determine best strategy for internal and external critical messages– Lead collaboration with Grammarly Business to develop an enterprise-wide solution for AI-based, Arvest Bank-specific style guide, tone, and communication tool– Advise and collaborate with bank services teams to ensure quality customer communications: system-generated notices, scheduled mailings, electronic messages and third-party communications

Aid university student-athletes in crafting academic and professional writing, research, proofreading, and organizational strategies, and facilitate weekly writing workshops.Maintain relationships with academic support staff to manage student academic goals.

Teach six 19-student public speaking classes and assist three 100-student communication lectures.Develop lectures, instructional material, and assessments on verbal and nonverbal communication, research, language selection and organization, rhetoric, and visual aids.Conduct qualitative, quantitative, and interpretive social science research on community resilience and development, higher education, interpersonal communication, and critical/cultural studies.

Lead a 15-person print staff, six-person digital staff, and 13 student writers in creating a weekly, eight-page print newspaper, 24-hour news site, and 340-page university yearbook.Dictate editorial, design, and organizational decisions in regard to SPJ Code of Ethics, AP Style, in-house style, and university mission.
