•Design and sales of scientific equipment used to monitor equine sport surface conditions such as weather, water application rates, and other mandated measurements by the Horse Racing Integrity and Safety Authority that is overseen by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).•Amazon Web Services (AWS) integration with industrial internet of things (IIoT) through IoT Core, Lambda, CloudWatch, Docker Containers, and S3 tools.

•Oversee and maintain the transfer of federally mandated data collection from clients to the Horse Racing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA).•Design and develop analytical tools to promote data collection, understanding, and interpretation of results. •Innovation and adaptation in the use of new technologies and or methods to improve current test methods and data collection processes.•Engage with customers and clientele to identify their needs and determine best approach practices to meet expectations.•Collaborate and perform research on granular composite materials with affiliated laboratories and industry partners.•Ensure all testing and analyses are performed in an efficient, safe, and responsible manner in accordance to all environmental, health, and safety requirements.

•Manage and lead Racing Surfaces Testing Laboratory (RSTL) personnel effectively to ensure project completion by time sensitive deadlines and responsible manner in accordance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.•Engage with customers and clientele to identify their needs and determine best approach practices to meet expectations •Conduct comprehensive test analyses, data processing, data analyses, and reporting in accordance with laboratory procedures, protocols, and industry standards.•Responsible for the coordination of analytical resources to ensure rapid and accurate results for all material testing and analyses.•Identification of optimum analytical approaches critical to material testing and the reporting of results•Perform calibration, preventive maintenance, and repairs as needed on analytical equipment to ensure quality control on all testing conducted.•Collaborate and perform research on polymeric granular composite materials used in equine sport surfaces with affiliated laboratories and industry partners.

• Manage student research tasks, laboratory equipment set up, testing, inventories, equipment operation and maintenance, and other related tasks such as laboratory safety.• Lead a research team with the primary investigator of five peers in several research topics with focus on materials testing and characterization of polymeric granular composite materials used in equine sport surfaces and biomedical equipment.• Execute materials testing utilizing common equipment such as Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), tensile and compression testing, and other general chemistry equipment.
