Graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Equine Science and Management at the University of Kentucky in December, 2021. From working as a farm hand at my local barn, in the Visitor’s Center at the Kentucky Horse Park, being a team lead manager for the Ariat Brand Shop in Lexington, to having competed in the Hunter/Jumper circuit for 12 years and counting, I have been involved in many sides of the equine industry. Throughout my time at UKY, I was a member of the IHSA Hunt Seat team for two years, participated in an independent research project under Dr. Kathryn Graves, PhD., in the Genetic Testing Lab at the Gluck Equine Research Center, was published in the Wildcat Canter, and was a research assistant/intern at the Racing Surfaces Testing Laboratory. Currently, I am the Laboratory Manager at the Racing Surfaces Testing Laboratory with Dr. Michael Peterson, PhD., participating in active research on Thoroughbred racetrack safety, aiding in the development of the Maintenance Quality System database with The Jockey Club, and managing the day-to-day business of the lab. My passions have been with the horse since I first learned to ride, but they have since grown to using the knowledge and skills I have to help improve the quality of life for both the horse and the horseman/woman.
