Animal Health Senior Laboratory Technician
Assistant
I worked at Countdown Supermarkets in Hamilton and have gained experience in many areas over my last 5 years there. I have been trained to act in a supervisor role and work with customers on a daily basis to meet there shopping needs. My current job as an online assistant involves picking and packing orders to a high quality to keep online shoppers happy.
Student Technician
I worked at Scion based in Rotorua with the Pathogen Ecology and Control team within the myrtle rust group as a student intern over the 2021/22 summer.During this internship I worked in the field and within quarantine rooms monitoring the symptom development of myrtle rust infection by the plant pathogen, Austropuccinia psidii. I was also involved in plant inoculations as well as the spore collection of a plant pathogen. This role required me to have close attention to detail in order to collect accurate data, the ability to identify the symptoms of an infection, and be able to work with excel to input and interpret findings from large quantities of raw data. I was often left to work on my own to complete data collection which required initiative and confidence in what I was doing and what needed to be done. I briefly spent some time in the nursery based on the Scion campus transplanting a variety of plant species also.
