I was one of four research assistants for renowned family psychologists, George Holden. This afforded me the opportunity to work in a few of his studies. The Home Study observes the affects of corporal punishment on child behavior in a household. The Time-In study is the first ever recorded study of the effectiveness/results of using ‘time-in’ and positive parenting techniques which young children.

Orange County, California Area

The Early Childhood Mental Health Collaborative is a project implemented in Orange County, CA under Early Childhood OC. I worked on the back logs of the data entry at the Cal State Fullerton Social Science Research Center entering and analyzing data in SPSS files. I also shadowed the Project Director, Sandy Avzaradel, to several committee and consultant outreach meetings where I was able to see the full cycle of the initial project development, implementation, revision, and impact in Orange County.

Help Me Grow is an organization that connects developmental, behavioral and psychological services to children, families and care providers. My role focused on improving the data analysis for effective identification and assignment of services, as well as participating in the progress reviews with Children's Hospital of Orange County and community stakeholders. My other responsibilities included improving outreach through social media and writing parent informational newsletters. During this time I also received formal training in numerous developmental screening tools.
