I serve on the executive leadership team, reporting to the CEO, and manage 3 teams and program areas: policy/government relations, communications, and journals.The policy team engages with federal and state natural resource agencies, congressional staff, conservation organizations, and wildlife professionals to advance TWS policy positions. We support engagement of TWS' volunteer-led organizational units on policy issues and I work with a committee of our governing board to formulate and publish position statements on conservation issues. The communications team conducts independent reporting and writes original articles for our website and The Wildlife Professional magazine, the Society’s flagship membership magazine published on a bi-monthly basis. I serve as the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine and work with a 20+ member editorial advisory board to craft magazine content and solicit contributed articles. The journals team facilitates publishing of TWS' scientific journals: Journal of Wildlife Management, Wildlife Society Bulletin, Wildlife Monographs. I manage the relationship with our publisher, and work with the team and journal EICs to promote journal submissions and published manuscripts. My program areas amount to $1.1 million. I manage budget formulation and tracking; personnel hiring and management; contractor relationships; operational planning and program deliverables. I work with our governing board committees and report on program area activities, budgets, and annual plans; discuss strategic growth areas, and leverage board member expertise and input on program direction.I also serve to represent the organization to external groups, with goal of developing partnerships and nurturing relationships to increase relevancy of the organization to the broader conservation community, develop potential fundraising opportunities, and support policy and other program objectives.

For business relations, I managed our development staff to generate conference sponsors/exhibitors, advertisers, and year-round partner relationships with government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and commercial businesses., generating >$600k annually.The professional development team implemented TWS' certification program, the Leadership Institute, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Our organization units team administered support and managed relationships with volunteer-led affiliated units of TWS: 55 chapters, 8 sections, 27 working groups, and 140+ student chapters.I manage budget formulation and tracking; personnel hiring and management; contractor relationships; operational planning and program deliverables. The Coalition is focused on advocating for commonsense ecologically-sound approaches to managing wild horses and burros to promote healthy wildlife and rangelands for future generations. I chair this coalition through my association with The Wildlife Society. http://wildhorserange.org/Primary duties:• Administer coalition’s operations and budgets; quarterly steering committee meetings; monthly working group calls; website and social media accounts; development and upkeep of operational guidelines; maintenance and growth of membership; approval for policy positions and letters• Develop and implement policy advocacy and lobbying strategies, involving public education, relationships with federal agency officials, and meetings with congressional offices• Lead media outreach and public speaking to educate organizations and American public on the natural resource management issue and potential policy solutionsSpecific deliverables:• Served as an Invited Witness to testify before the House Natural Resource Subcommittee on Federal Lands during an oversight hearing titled “Challenges and Potential Solutions for BLM's Wild Horse & Burro Program”• Organized and delivered a congressional briefing, sponsored by Senator McCain’s office, involving staff from several coalition members and congressional offices. Briefing was attended by nearly 70 individuals from federal agencies and >30 congressional offices and committees• Envisioned and directed creation of policy resources, including a series of 7 fact sheets and a policy timeline for use in our public and congressional education efforts• Collaboratively assisted in the development of a series of television commercials launched in the Denver, Colorado area and placed on the coalition’s website and social media pages
