Kara was raised in Hugo, Minnesota with her parents and three other siblings. She graduated from White Bear Lake high school and decided in 12th grade to join the On the Job Training (OJT) program where she worked as an Administrative Assistant at 3M. When her OJT program ended she was offered a position with Imation Corp., which was the Data Storage spin-off company of 3M. She went on to work with Imation for 10 years working with the same group in Environmental Engineering. In the meantime, while working at Imation, she went to college and graduated with her AAS in Computer Network Engineering. In 2006, she left Imation to be a stay-at-home mom to her daughter, Olivia. During that time, Kara started her own retail children’s boutique, which she sold to a local women’s boutique. Since her daughter started Kindergarten at The Blake School, Kara is excited to be back to her professional career.She has a love for cooking and baking. Other interests include kickboxing classes at the Tae Kwon Do Academy in Eden Prairie, and sculpt classes at Core Power. Kara is an avid supporter of the American Cancer Society, Lifesource, and ASPCA. She is an animal lover, especially her King Charles Cavalier, Alice.Kara has a passion for the Native American culture and community, as her daughter is a member of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community. She takes pride in sewing Olivia’s Fancy Shawl Regalia and watching her dance at her tribe’s pow-wow every year.
