Director, Teacher Programs
Current-Conceptualizes, secures funding for, and implements programming to create further access to humanities programming and curriculum for K-16 educators and learners in the humanities, with particular emphasis on areas relating to the Newberry’s collections, and skills pertaining to primary source engagement and research; -Directs professional learning programs for teachers (NTC and CPScholars), including production of seminars, workshops, and meetings for stakeholders in teaching/learning initiatives at the Newberry and beyond;-Maintains active and ongoing involvement with Chicago’s educator communities and with other teaching communities in the Greater Chicago Area; -Directs and supervises a staff that implements programs; -Plans, designs, and seeks funding (in collaboration with Newberry Development staff) for education programs that promote the Newberry’s collections in professional learning and instruction settings for educators, their students, and their school communities;-Oversees development of digital resources, in collaboration with Digital Initiatives & Services; -Collaborates with staff in multiple Newberry departments and initiatives, including but not limited to Library Services, Development, Exhibitions, Public Engagement, members of the Newberry Institute, and maintains Teacher Programs’ participation in library and greater community activities and events;-Manages Newberry accreditation with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).
