I have been working for Irwin Mitchell for over 30 years and lead the Special Damages Unit as well as Medico Legal Records Team and the Support and Rehabilitation Coordinators under the umbrella of Specialist Client Services. Special Damages Unit deal with the quantification of damages for all Irwin Mitchell personal injury claims nationally. I established the team over 30 years ago and we have assessed the quantum on many high profile and boundary breaking cases including the Hancock case, the Ladbroke Grove Rail Disaster and the Hatfield and Selby cases. The team's work was recognised in the 2011 edition of Legal 500 and our in-house training has been recognised by the College of Law. I am a member of APIL. The Medico Legal Records Team are a group of clinical professionals such as nurses who provide a high standard of medical record sorting and analysis. Initially self-employed, the professionals have now been brought in-house and the team continues to grow. Our Support and Rehabilitation Coordinators are a growing team of health and social care professionals who provide support to our Personal Injury clients and their families. The team work with statutory organisations and charities to promote early rehabilitation to clients and ensure that they're aware of what they're entitled to in terms of benefits and support services. I also played a key part in establishing the National Complex PI administration function, providing mentorship to Support Services Managers and leading the team until taking on the MLR and SRCs. I have been involved in the firm’s Responsible Business objectives for a number of years and have had key roles in a number of projects including but not limited to:- Developing a new Volunteering strategy- Managing the firm’s relationship with external partners including Business in the Community and Sheffield Business Together- Managing the firm’s schools partnerships- Sitting on the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation committee Outside of work, I have been involved in numerous charities and community groups, holding roles including:• Founder and Chair of Sheffield Smashers Boccia Club (present)• Former Founder and Trustee of RideforEric• Former Trustee and Vice Chair of Cavendish Cancer Care and current Patron.
