I have a constant curiosity and interest in research, education and innovation within the field of design, play and children. I am Associate Professor at Design School Kolding in Denmark, where I conduct research in child-centred design for play. I explore how we as adults can become more aware of children’s everyday lives and get a better understanding of children’s motivation and interest, as a foundation for developing more relevant designs for children. I am part of the Taskforce for Child-Centred Play Design, who does research, teaching and consultancy within child/youth-centred design. I am the head of the international Master’s programme in Design for Play, which educates play designers to design for more playfulness in the world. I teach child-centred design for play and supervise master's students and PhD students. With a background as a social interaction designer, I am interested in how companies and organisations can develop high quality play designs for children, which includes children’s voice, rights and interests. Through collaborations and co-creation with others, I explore new tools, methods, approaches, mindsets, synergies and opportunities for the role of play and design - now, and in the future!
