About Karen Hicks

In the time I have worked for Medica, I have continued to expand and grow my knowledge adapting to a fast-growing organisation working on numerous projects Digital Pathology, HL7 Reporting Direct RIS Platform and Master Data Management, within the Medical Teleradiology Reporting Industry. As the Business Analyst for these large projects, I have been gathering requirements, Creating BPMs, Running Workshops, documenting as is and to be processes, Creating UAT Test Scripts, . Introducing Agile Methodology to the business whilst liaising with the Software Delivery Team, External Vendors to ensure we build for the future development and expansion of the Medica Estate. Introducing and formalising documents, processes and tools to communicate to the Business Stakeholders. I have developed from a Webmaster and Technical Administrator into a skilled Business Analyst with an excellent understanding of Agile and its evolution into Business Agility.Having both managed and participated in numerous Agile Projects I have a good understanding of researching and identifying business improvements, creating business cases, MoSCoW Prioritisation, User stories, facilitating daily stand-ups, workshops and retrospectives for each incremental delivery.My past experiences covering a number of different roles have enabled me to get a good business understanding in operations giving me the ability to translate business needs to the developers. I feel I have gained additional knowledge at source as I have had the privilege of being mentored and worked alongside Agile experts including Dot Tudor (Lead author of the “Agile Business Analysis Handbook”) and Barbara Roberts (Agile Thought Leader and author of “Agile Foundations: Principles, Practices and Frameworks”).
