About Kari Walker

An oceanographer with 20 years of experience, I love science, technology and have a passion for the business side of things, as well. I believe in start-up thinking, where seemingly small ideas and tools can generate a big impact in the world’s marine environments. In 2016, I founded IntelliSense Marine, a marine science consultancy, and am a Member/Owner of Induced Polarization Associates, where we have exclusive licenses to USGS-patented mineral and hydrocarbon mapping technology for marine environments. I have held a variety of leadership roles in oceanography, and specialize in program and project development and management, and strategic business growth and management. I have worked on and led diverse and collaborative teams, working to help deliver solutions for coastal and oceanic projects for government, industry and academic clients worldwide. Most recently from 2013-2016, I was the Regional Manager for RPS Evans Hamilton, where I developed a new vision and growth strategy after Evans-Hamilton joined RPS. I lead the team through change with success while heading up our client services, business development, and management, helping to double the annual revenue. I believe and am passionate that the health of our oceans is essential and believe that should be nurtured in education. I served on the board of directors for Salish Sea Expeditions, a nonprofit providing students opportunities to conduct vessel-based marine research in the Puget Sound.
