- Leading a global Peace Programming Task Force which works to strengthen ADRA’s 120 country offices' ability to integrate peace programming across development and humanitarian interventions- Coordinating ADRA Denmark's partnership and humanitarian, development and peacebuilding activities with ADRA South Sudan- ADRA DK Focal Point to the European Commission's Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations department (DG ECHO)

Managed a multi-year government-government partnership programme on Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) between Denmark and Kenya funded by the Danish Peace and Stability Fund.Taught at the Danish Police Academy.

Consultancies in project management, security and conflict prevention for the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), the Danish Demining Group (DDG), and consortiums of DDG, Oxfam GB and Cordaid as well as DDG and the Small Arms Survey. Key achievements include: • Designed and set-up border security and management programmes in West Africa's Manu River and Sahel regions and a community safety project in Tunisia • Developed programme framework to address youth at risk of radicalisation or criminalisation in the Horn of Africa • Developed projects to bridge the gap between local populations, oil companies and local authorities in Northern Kenya and capacity building activities for police in conflict management and community engagement. • Developed a global change model and an output, outcome and impact monitoring system for DDG's armed violence reduction and stabilization programmes • Conflict analysis of refugee camps in Northern Uganda and oil development in Turkana and publication of study on traditional weapons management amongst pastoralists in East Africa

• Managed DDG Kenya's programme with app. 20 staff members and a number of other smaller projects while the Country Director was on paternity leave• Set up a six-months programme in the border areas between Uganda-Kenya and Kenya-Somalia aimed at improving security through research, capacity building and cooperation with Kenyan authorities

• Set up Armed Violence Reduction (AVR) and Stabilization programmes in Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda and Yemen and helped grow DDG’s annual AVR portfolio from approximately $3.7 million in 2010 to approximately $12 million in 2013 with funding from DANIDA, DFID, EU, Holland, Norway, SIDA and US-DoS • Developed a Community Driven Safety and Development programme for the Horn of Africa and Yemen, activities for urban criminal youth in Kenya, and education activities on conflict management and firearms safety for Somalia, Uganda and South Sudan

Managed DDG's Somaliland office with 50-80 local and two international staff and developed and successfully implemented DDG’s first Community Safety/Armed Violence Reducation (AVR) Programme (a two million USD pilot project). Key achievements include: • Transformed a traditional mine action organization into an agile organization responding to vioelnce, security and stabilization issues, and grew the programme to have an expanded donor portifolio, an extended programmatic range and 80 staff by completion of the pilot project. • Developed an AVR assistance framework and programming approach which underpinned an expansion of DDG’s AVR work to more than 10 new countries.• Set up a gender balanced senior management team and developed and successfully implemented new security procedures, new human resource policies and new budget planning and management tools. • Developed programming activities within community safety planning processes, community based policing, capacity building of local management structures, safe storage of firearms, firearms safety education, conflict management education and disarmament of private owners of explosive remnants of war.• Co-authored extensive research study on community safety and small arms in Somaliland, published by DDG and the Small Arms Survey• Developed DDG’s first AVR website and various communication materials (films, leaflets etc.)

• Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Developed an M&E system (data collection tools, databases, staff training etc) for a new programme• Research Developmed survey methodology and data collection tools for a Somaliland wide research study on community safety and small arms

• Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E): Capacity building of staff in M&E; Development of needs assessments, baseline studies and impact assessments; and Development of SPSS and Limesurvey databases• Programme support: Capacity builing of local NGO partner to expand donor portfolio to include various UN agencies and development of human resource policies and admin guidelines

• Servicing of political structures Organised and hosted bi-annual conferences for the association’s student division’s executive committee and monthly meetings for its executive board• Communication and advice: Developed and implemented annual marketing campaigns and provided advisory service to members on job related legal issues

Interned at Public Information and External Relations Section in Washington DC, where I attended briefings/hearings in the US Congress, participated in coordination meetings with NGOs, reported and collected data.

Interned at the Economical and Social Section of the Danish Mission to the UN in New York where I participated in negotiations in the General Assembly’s 5th Committee for administrative and budgetary affairs and the Executive Boards of UNICEF, UNDP and UNFPA; elaborated draft reports for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and analyzed UN reports.

Implemented information campaigns on HIV/AIDS, staffed the AIDS-secretariat’s campaign-wagon at musical festivals throughout the summer months and provided advisory services on HIV/AIDS prevention.
