I have served as an advisor to and manager of programmes on peace, conflict and security in East Africa and the Horn of Africa, incl. Kenya, Somaliland, Somalia, South Sudan and Uganda, as well as in Guinea, Ivory Coast, Niger, Tunesia and Yemen. My passion and speciality is preventative and transformative approaches to promoting peace, improving security, and creating positive changes in people's lives.

Key achievements include: • Transformed a traditional mine action organization into an agile organization responding to vioelnce, security and stabilization issues, and grew the programme to have an expanded donor portifolio, an extended programmatic range and 80 staff by completion of the pilot project. • Developed an AVR assistance framework and programming approach which underpinned an expansion of DDG’s AVR work to more than 10 new countries.• Set up a gender balanced senior management team and developed and successfully implemented new security procedures, new human resource policies and new budget planning and management tools. • Developed programming activities within community safety planning processes, community based policing, capacity building of local management structures, safe storage of firearms, firearms safety education, conflict management education and disarmament of private owners of explosive remnants of war.• Co-authored extensive research study on community safety and small arms in Somaliland, published by DDG and the Small Arms Survey• Developed DDG’s first AVR website and various communication materials (films, leaflets etc.)
