My role is primarily based around the design and implementation of the etrack1. Etrack1 is an online ticket based customer service system which I initially started development on in 2006. The system handles everything from email and contact form based contacts to online chat, and has integrations to everything from social media & telephone systems through to reporting engines.

Primarily, users of the systems would work on dumb terminals (DEC VT, Wyse-60) this role saw us move into using PC's as workstations. The initial development was a terminal emulator, to this we designed and developed extensions to allow the mini & midi systems to control the workstation. Primarily responsible for designing and development of various insurance calculation systems - household quotation system, schemes insurance (boats, pets, taxi, small commercial), maintenance & ongoing development of the car insurance quotation system. I also worked on integrating these calculation engines with the mainframe based renewals processes (premium calculation) for insurers who would use our calculation engines to adjust the renewal premiums for existing customers.

Initially i was involved in updating of algorithms used for the calculation of insurance premiums. During my time in this role I also work on developing some of the first laser produced insurance documentation in the UK, including designing security measures to ensure photocopied and tampered documents could be recognized by authorities.
