I studied Aeronautical Engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig in Germany. Senior Engineer Product DevelopmentUgl Limited Jun 2012 - Nov 2013Proposed, justified and implemented measures to reduce the cost of a heavy mining locomotive. One project was to use industrial bonding tapes instead of adhesives to bond exterior sheeting. This reduced assembly time from approximately three days to one day.I also researched the effectiveness of noise attenuation measures by carrying out external noise test. I showed that the noise absorption material installed has no measurable influence on external noise and therefore could be omitted during the production process. -

Composite Design EngineerGurit 2005 - 2008Composite engineering and management of the engineering team of various sailing and motor yacht projects. A typical project was highly international with the design team, engineering team and build team located on different continents. Most yachts were made from a carbon fibre sandwich structure. On some projects I carried out FEA analysis using the PATRAN Laminate Modeller. Race yacht projects often had a very tight time frame. -
Structural EngineerQantas 2001 - 2005SydneyAs part of the structures department I was responsible for the development of aircraft repairs and modifications of Boeing 747, 767 and 707 aircraft. I assisted in interior re-configurations by substantiating required structural modifications. Qantas was also responsible for the maintenance of the RAAF Boeing 707 VIP aircraft fleet. Due to the aircraft age many significant repairs were required. For example I was the lead engineer for a repair which required partial dis-assembly of the wings to replace corroded extrusions. The role required regular communication with Boeing in Seattle for advice.
