My understanding of sustainability and environmental science has expanded throughout my time at the University of Florida. I've had the opportunity to acquire knowledge regarding matters of sustainable development, global renewable energy sources, community resilience coupled with inclusivity, and biodiversity preservation. I collaborated on a team that evaluated the water resiliency in Gainesville's historic districts as part of a study that was tailored for SBE. I spoke with my colleagues about stormwater infrastructure, water-saving devices, flood plains, and the local water quality data. My team's final proposal for the neighborhood focused on xeriscaping, biophilic landscape designs, the use of vacant lots, and rainwater collection. Camping has been a big part of my life because I've always enjoyed the outdoors. Making a personal appraisal of nature and the built world or learning something new is incredibly thrilling. I attended the University of Florida to broaden my knowledge and learn how to both effectively incorporate nature into our constructed world and understand the value of nature and how to conserve it.
