Lead Engineer
Current* Works with or leads collaborative development teams, usually consisting of back-end and front-end engineers and a technical project manager.* Analyzes code and associated documentation produced by team members to identify line-level and architectural-level improvements through collaborative code review.* Creates plans to implement large systems in areas they have background in (such as back-end or front-end), and reviews system designs for any part of the project.* Supports team members in their use of version control systems such as Git, providing best practices and documentation to support teams dispersed over geography and time.* Plans, analyzes, and writes automated tests with tools such as PHPUnit or Nightwatch* Evaluates the technical skills of current and prospective team members.* Self-manages project tasks* Creates project plans consisting of long-form documentation or ticket backlogs, along with estimates of work and highlights of technical risks.* Creates documentation for engineers and client stakeholders in project management tools.* Makes recommendations on team size and composition.* Acts as a backup for a project manager on team projects.* Leads small teams (such as 2 developers and an architect) with light project management tools such as GitHub issues, as needed.* Manages the tasks of a team when required.
