Every year I take a day to devote my thoughts to what I want to accomplish in my lifetime. When I was younger, I wanted to make the world a more beautiful place by making art in my studio. As I’ve gotten older and my understanding of the subjectivity of beauty has increased, my intentions have shifted outside of the studio and into the world around me. I have come to realize that art can live off the pedestal, out of the gallery and exist at a larger scale both physically and conceptually. For the last ten years my driving goal in life has been to foster creative opportunities, empower artists to do their best work and introduce and/or remind the public of the power of thoughtful creativity. I still have my own artist practice, while creating opportunities for collaboration and community building as a way of contributing to the world and fulfilling my own goals. I have done this by becoming the Public Art Manager for the City of Eugene, a Visual Arts Coordinator for the Oregon Arts Commission, cofounder of the Grayspace Project, served nine years on the Lane Arts Council Board as well as served for the last three years on the Kesey Farm Project Advisory Committee.
