Barrister
CurrentMy practice incorporates equity, wills and estates, administrative law (particularly judicial review) and general commercial work. I have a particular interest in alternative dispute resolution, and a busy and varied mediation practice. Most cases shouldn't get to court, and I have an excellent track record in helping to resolve those that shouldn't. Lawyers are problem-solvers first and foremost, and I pride myself on sound analysis leading to the best strategy individually tailored to each client's needs. Acted for the lead plaintiff in Duval-Comrie v Commonwealth of Australia, a class action seeking compensation for discriminatory underpayment of wages to intellectually disabled workers. This proceeding has settled, pending court approval, and if approved will mean that the group members will get between 70% and 100% of their claimed losses. Acted for the successful plaintiff in Stankoski v Flickers Australia Pty Ltd, a judicial review of a Medical Panel opinion in a workers' compensation case. The judgment further clarified and tightened up the standard of reasons required to be given by medical panels in these cases. Acted for the plaintiff in Rehabilitation Australia Limited v EW Tipping Foundation, a large commercial dispute between two charitable trusts, one in the UK and one in Victoria over a rehabilitation joint venture which went south. Resolved on a confidential basis.
