    I headed the Employment Law, Criminal Law and Wills and Estates areas.     During my career in the ARA I had postings to Land Command (Operations roles), Training Command (Training and Development roles), Strategic and International Policy, Defence Force Recruiting and the Defence Support Group. As OPSO JOSS-SV I acted as a Liaison Officer (LO) to the (then) DSE and the Victoria Police for the provision of ADF assets to support the 2006 bushfires emergency in North East Victoria and Gippsland. I advised agencies regarding the availability of Commonwealth assets; consulted agencies on requirements, capacities and endurance of resources; identified user capability requirements, processed requests and represented the ADF.As the DSG LO to Joint Task Force (JTF) 636 during the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games I planned and facilitated the reception and basing of more than 2600 military personnel deployed across seven base locations in Victoria. My duties included liaison various elements to establish the extensive support requirements. This involved communicating and forecasting requirements across disparate organisations with differing operational focuses and priorities to ensure appropriate levels of support.As the 2IC of Operations Support Squadron, 1st Armoured Regiment I had direct supervision of 120 personnel across a range of technical backgrounds. I was responsible for identifying training requirements and career development paths for subordinates, including performance appraisal, counselling, goal setting and communication. In 1999 the Squadron was awarded Champion Squadron based on its collective performance across the year.As a Platoon Commander at the 1st Recruit Training Battalion I assisted in the delivery of training to approximately 150 recruits over a 12 month period, as well as supervising and providing professional development of my training staff. I had the privilege of leading a great team in Charlie Company and during my posting we were awared the Vasey Trophy for achieving excellence in training.
