While earning my Master's degree, I was a Graduate Research Assistant at the Trace Research and Development Center for universal design and assistive technologies. During my first year, I worked with research participants to determine the usability of touch screens for people with and without motor control disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy and Parkinson's Disease. The study concluded that tapping a touch screen was a much easier task than dragging a finger, keeping in constant contact with the screen. During my second year, I worked on a study researching tools to help breast cancer patients return or remain at work throughout their treatment. Many patients do not have the luxury of taking leave from work for treatment, so this project developed a website of resources to help patients cope. I helped maintain the website and performed quality checks on the data produced by the project.

This summer internship was through the National Science Foundation's Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU). The research project studied the combustion of aluminum as a fuel additive to improve fuel efficiency. My job was to analyze images taken under a microscope, take measurements from the images, analyze the data, and present the data to a large audience.
