created by kate was born out of twenty years experience in the nursery industry. Over the years I have designed and developed products for Brands, Licences, Retailers, Suppliers and Manufacturers, across a breadth of category areas. An expert in all facets of the creative and development process, I can work from initial brief through to the successful delivery of the finished product.Yes I can draw a pretty picture, but with bags of experience I am both creative and commercial. I am passionate about trends and can identify new innovations and opportunities. I know the market and understand consumer behaviours and motivations. Quick to understanding and very collaborative, I have the ability to work to tight deadlines or long term projects.Design is at the heart of everything I do! I can research, identify and interpret trends to create mood boards to inspire. Working independently or with an in-house team, I can develop new design directions. Creative and innovative with a strong handwriting style, I can provide initial sketches and colour palettes through to CAD ready artwork and print repeats.I can evolve my own designs, or take from existing artwork to create a product range that has thought behind it. Although a textile designer at heart, I have spent many years designing across a variety of product categories. This allows me to explore potential range extensions in Bedding, Toys, Gifting,Car & Travel, Furniture, Feeding and Bathtime. I have experience in working with Brand and Licensing opportunities to create new and exciting product ranges.By producing specifications I can examine the creative, physical and technical details throughout. I can support with sampling, print and colour continuity, right through to ensuring quality and integrity of manufacture. I have many years experience working directly with factories, so I can work with your supply base or introduce you to potential new manufacturing partnerships.

Responsible for all creative & trend direction, my primary function within this role was the strategic planning and implementation of design cross category and team. To include - Bedding, Gifting, Toys, Car & Travel, Furniture, Bathtime and Feeding; as well as identifying new areas for growth.

Responsible for all planning and implementation of design cross category for private label & licensed business, alongside the launch & development of own brand product ranges. As the lead creative, my function was to set the design and development agenda across the business.

Responsible for the planning and inplementation of design and development work for all our private label business. My role was to manage and mentor a team of 5 designers with very different customer accounts and requirements. These included JLP, Marks and Spencer, Mothercare, BRU, Tesco, Argos and Halfords. This role also allowed me to work closely on developing new license opportunities such as Disney, baby joule, Pink Lining, PL Child, Hello Kitty and Guess How Much I Love you.

My role was to support a team of designers with their own customer accounts whilst being responsible for successfully managing our largest account, Babies R Us. This was across all areas of their business, Strollers, Car & Travel, Bathtime, Bedding and Toys. I managed the design process from start to finish to create a highly successful product range, from presenting trends, design concepts, samples and packaging, through to creating detailed product specifications in line with costings, customer expectations and critical paths. I represented the company internationally, travelling to the Far East and Sri Lanka visiting factories and suppliers to guarantee the end product was to a high standard and met all safety requirements. I took part in comparative research trips in major European cities and in the UK to generate inspiration and ideas to ensure the company preserved a competitve edge in the marketplace.

My role included producing illustrations, graphics, all over prints and product ranges for various customer accounts across the business. This allowed me to demonstrate my ability to adapt dependant on the retailer, product area and substrate. Retailers included Mothercare, Babies R Us, Next, Argos and Halfords. I created detailed sample & production specifications and packaging, whilst mentoring a design assistant to support with the busy work load.
