I completed independent research relating to Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) rangelands and the impacts of woody encroachment on wildflower and bee diversity. I also aided in a study that is investigating the impact of climate change on rangeland grass communities and water availability while developing skills in plant identification. The topics of indigenous practices, socio-ecological systems and sustainability were frequently discussed and I gained valuable experience by visiting local ranches and the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.

This incorporated the collection and analysis of physical, chemical, geological and biological samples from 44 locations. Post collection analyses of the over 14,000 data points was completed and a formal research report was written and formatted as a primary literature journal article

We then assembled materials for sharing in diverse classes where debates, case studies, and real life applications are used.

I collected barnacle samples & added to an existing database to correlate reproductive output changes with season and lunar phase. As a part of this position I measured barnacle size, dry weight, and counted the number of eggs and larvae produced. I was the lead researcher for this project so I trained another student in the research process, modified protocols and drafted research proposals.
