Kate has over 22 years’ experience working in consulting in the fields of civil geotechnical and pavement engineering and is a Chartered Fellow of Engineers Australia. She worked in engineering consulting in Tasmania from 2000 to April 2011, before relocating to Perth WA to join GHD’s Geotechnical and Pavements group in May 2011 .She returned to Tasmania in 2013 to be based in GHD’s Hobart office, where she works on projects from all around Australia. Kate has worked on numerous pavement design projects around Australia, including projects in Victoria, Tasmania, NSW, Qld, SA and WA in addition to a major road design project in the Philippines. Through these projects she has gained extensive experience in pavement engineering and rehabilitation for road, airport and heavy duty industrial pavements. Kate has undertaken investigations to determine pavement condition and rehabilitation options for the upgrade to the Paraburdoo airport in the Pilbara, in WA for Rio Tinto, in addition to Woodie Woodie Aerodrome for Consolidated Minerals Ltd. These projects involved analysis of FWD data to determine the strength of the runway and visual mapping of the pavement to determine defect types and locations of defects. She is also proficient in the pavement design and rehabilitation software ELMOD and the mechanistic design software packages CIRCLY (road pavements) APSDS (airport pavements) and HIPAVE (Heavy Industrial Pavements). Kate was recently technical advisor on the Hobart Airport Landside Civil Package for the construction of the new access/egress roads associated with the Runway Extension Project.
