About Kate Stephenson

Kate is a professional content creator, communicator, journalist and subeditor. She is proud to have worked for National Geographic KiDS Magazine, Discovery Communications, Channel 4 Learning, Channel 4 Talent, BBC Blast, Archant, Executive Grapevine, Today Magazines and Cubiqdesign. Kate has a great interest in blogging and social media, having been awarded the WeNaturalists Nature Storyteller of the Year 2022 Award for her Kate on Conservation Blog, and formerly winning the Highly Commended prize for Green and Eco storytelling at the UK Blog Awards .She graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2013 with a First Class degree in English Language and Communications with Journalism and Media Cultures. Kate completed four years of study, including a study abroad year in Australia, where she studied a further six modules of Journalism and two modules of Internet Studies. Her time at university saw her take on the role of Deputy Print Editor, and she was the Deputy Editor of her university's newspaper; UniVerse, and the Editor of BlueMoon magazine. During this time she was closely mentored by Terry Mansfield CBE.In her final year, Kate was awarded an 'Outstanding Contribution to Media' award and the university prize for 'Outstanding Student Contribution to the Humanities Programme'. While on study abroad, she achieved the 'Most Valuable Player' award for her work on as part of a Print Production team that produced two newspapers. She also won an award at the Student Recognition Awards Evening for her 'Soapbox Blog' about the student experience.Her passion and curiosity for culture and politics began at the age of 14, with her first published magazine article. She has since worked for several media organisations and had hundreds of articles, photos and pieces of design work published. Her interests also span to photojournalism; she has had work displayed in an exhibition at the Bally Factory, Norwich.
