Currently focused on program management to bring our osteoarthritis candidate to additional clinical trials in the US. Leading all nonclinical activities in addition to managing collaborations between CMC, regulatory/clinical, and quality affairs to ensure successful IND filing (planned Q2 2019).Symic Bio was started based on technology developed at Purdue University to address disease by targeting the extracellular matrix. Early in the company's development I was responsible for evaluating and directing in vivo proof of concept studies to move new compounds into clinical development. Through writing grants, I was responsible for bringing in over $2.5M in funds and services for the company's lead programs and pipeline indications, and with the founding team secured venture funding to enable early clinical development.

As an independent consulted I provided expertise in tissue processing and product development of biologically based drugs and devices to both large organizations and small startups.

My roles here were diverse and spanned research, process optimization, and product development. I interfaced with multiple teams including regulatory, manufacturing, and quality to assess feasibility of new products and indications. I supervised the training of colleagues in biological assays, wrote grants for novel product indications and formulations, and collaborated with sales and marketing to create technical literature for website and field use.

Glytrix was a precursor to Symic Bio. It was spun out of technology developed at Purdue University from my PhD lab. I was part of the small team that performed the early translational work to show the company's proof of concept data in vitro and in vivo. My responsibilities included in vitro and in vivo experiment design and execution, grant writing, project management, and development of business plans.

My postdoc focused on technology translation. I managed a research team of 4 students, directed laboratory activities, and produced innovative experiments resulting in journal publications and patent applications. Additionally, as part of the HHMI funded interdisciplinary faculty learning group I developed lessons to integrate Design of Experiments into life science courses.

I initiated a new research area for our laboratory in cardiovascular tissue engineering using collagen based materials and glycosaminoglycans, and characterized the interactions between these extracellular matrix molecules and the resulting biological, structural, and mechanical effects on vascular cell response.
