As an applied physical geographer, I use ice penetrating radar and remotely sensed imagery to comprehend and characterise the subglacial environment (morphology, geology and hydrology) and flow dynamics of glaciers and ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica. I am passionate about outreach and engagement and love to share my enthusiasm for all things icey with anyone that will listen!

My research primarily focusses on the controls on ice flow and sediment mobility in Greenland and Antarctica, where I am funded to work on two NSF-NERC grants. I am programme lead for the Environmental Monitoring, Modelling and Reconstruction MSc course and teach on a variety of undergraduate and masters modules. I also primary and co-supervise 4 PhD students. -

In 2018 I was awarded the Baillet Latour Antarctica research grant, allowing me to collect vital information about ice flow and sediment entrainment in East Antarctica, with two field seasons at the Princess Elisabeth Antarctica research station. As a lecturer, I developed a new module on science communication, and co-led a variety of undergraduate modules at all levels. I also supervised 2 MSc projects, and co-supervised 3 PhD students.

I used terrestrial laser scanning, seismometers and ice penetrating radar to assess sediment sources in Antarctica, and the transportation of sediment (potentially rich in bio-avilable iron) through the glacial system to the Southern Ocean. -

I published three first author research papers and contributed to several other research outputs, as part of the NERC grant "A new approach to West Antarctic ice sheet evolution using blue ice moraines on nunataks".
