After over a decade of teaching, I discovered this was not the career I hoped for. I developed a desire to move beyond the classroom and use the skills I possess in new ways. This desire lead me back to the classroom, as a student, where I acquired the knowledge and skills necessary to become a training and development specialist.While obtaining my master of education degree, I also spent that time as the lead preschool teacher for Rex Child Development Center, where I prepared my students for their journey into elementary education. I spent my days writing curriculum, planning and implementing stimulating and attention grabbing lessons that expand my students social/emotional, cognitive, physical, and executive skills. Throughout my day I monitored and engaged with students, while simultaneously, recorded data and observations, measured academic progress, and used the information gathered to alter and plan lessons. I communicated pertinent information about each child's growth with not only each child's parent, but also with fellow teachers that interacted with my students. Prior to working as a preschool teacher, I gained 8 years of educational experience working as an elementary school teacher and tutor. These experiences honed my ability to prioritize, multi-task, work in a fast paced environment, and to recognize when to delegate tasks. Through teaching, I learned to be a leader, as well as, how to work as a member of a team when necessary.These experiences created a smooth transition into my career in training and development. Throughout 2020, I identified key issues in the existing training program of the outsourced staff at AmeriSave Mortgage Corporation. From this, I wrote the current training curriculum and policies, worked with subject matter experts to create videos, knowledge checks, and reports displaying the progress of each individual. I interviewed and trained Income Underwriters to become my team of Training Team Leads. Altogether I managed 150 individuals while constantly tweaking the training program in order to achieve the best results. Weekly, I met with five vendor management teams and my domestic management to communicate strengths and weaknesses of each individual onboarded, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of each vendor and collaborated on best methods to increase success. In less than a year, the retention rate of outsourced staff grew from 10% to 70% and continues to improve.I am open to hearing about new opportunities that allow me to grow in my career.
