As the Director of (Postgraduate Coursework) Academic Program (DAP) of initially 8 postgraduate programs in the School of Medicine, I undertook several strategic initiatives leading to increased student enrolments across the programs as well as increased postgraduate course offerings to 13. I reinvigorated postgraduate committee meetings, met each course coordinator to identify areas for growth, micro credentialling and marketing, mapped all assessments in an assessment quality activity, assisted with successful requests to the school for additional staffing, co-led redevelopment Epidemiology offerings (launched 2023). I also developed and delivered 2 successful microcredentials in Disease Outbreak Epidemiology, fully funded by an Australian Department of Education Grant

Leadership role in the day-to-day coordination of a research project from design, to roll out and evaluation. Main duties included project management, supervision of junior staff and students working on the project, development of intervention materials and protocols, evaluation, active contribution to the scholarly and professional literature including production and presentation of conference and seminar papers and publications, development of institutional linkages and collaborations to develop WSU’s research program, provision of support to the Principal Investigator and feedback to the wider research team on study progress, organise and conduct appropriate fieldwork to meet project aims, collect, enter and analyse data using a variety of methods including collection of physiological health outcomes, psychosocial outcomes (using questionnaires), surveys, cost-effectiveness outcomes and mapping. Liaising with partner organisations on relevant aspects of the project, ensuring standardisation of data collection and fidelity of intervention delivery.

Lecturer, Interprofessional Health (Maternity Cover) Teaching and unit coordination across School of Science and Health programs for both undergraduate and post graduate students undertaking the Master of Public Health program as well as interprofessional allied health and health science undergraduate programs. Areas of teaching were public health, epidemiology and evidence-based medicine. A core responsibility was the project management of a new fully online Bachelor of Health Science (Public Health) course. This included supervision and coordination of a team of more than 20 academic staff and blended learning designers, running workshops to train staff, creating and evaluating innovative and engaging online resources and public health curricula, budgeting and cost modelling for future online delivery and coordinating with external stakeholders.

Western Sydney Local Health District Centre for Population Health was integral to the control of the Delta outbreak in NSW and averted thousands of deaths due to sustained efforts of their COVID-19 investigation team. I led the training and development of this team as well as unit organisational change during this time. The Director of Population Health said this: “Kate ensures and imparts extremely high professional and ethical standards.
