I taught English as a foreign language to 10th and 11th graders 23 hours per week in a vocational high school. While actively engaging in cultural exchange through community events and creating school-wide programming, I also planned and executed interactive, culturally relevant lessons with Indonesian co-teachers. To encourage more engagement with English outside the classroom, I started an Instagram handle for Indonesian-speaking English language learners. As part of the cultural exchange focus of the Fulbright program, I learned basic conversational Indonesian and worked with my school to better support students who were applying for scholarships and programs in English-speaking countries.

As the frontline for students at all stages of the abroad process, I greeted students coming into the office with appointments, applications, and visa issues. I answered general questions about credit transfer, options for programs abroad, resources for funding and specific programs, and culture shock.

As a rising senior, I worked with incoming students to support their college transition process. I was there to answer questions about Tufts as an academic setting, a community, a home, and ultimately an opportunity. As discussion leaders, my co-leader and I explored topics of identity, college culture, and mental health with our students, building relationships as mentors that were able to provide support and insight into the transitional process.

Boston, Massachusetts

I researched and responded to constituents about issues of concern to them, including the Omnibus Energy Diversity Bill, Pay Equity, and a recent infestation of Emerald Ash Borers. I provided them with information on the progress of bills and resources to answer their questions. I worked directly with the Representative and her team to research and summarize legislation, keep the Representative informed on upcoming bills and amendments, and provide comparisons between House and Senate versions of major bills. As an intern at the end of the legislative session, I also researched budget line-items and governor vetoes, working to get the best versions of the budget and other legislation passed before the end of session deadline.

Vienna, Austria

At an NGO in Vienna, Austria, I translated German to English to create bilingual marketing tools and English website sections. As a part of the team at the International Fellowship of Reconciliation, I actively participated in monthly United Nations NGO Committee on Peace meetings, contributing to the beginning stages of a video on disarmament and peace shown at the Women's Forum for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Education in Vienna in July 2016.

Lexington, Massachusetts

At an educational non-profit focused on strategic learning for students with learning differences, I drafted capacity building and program grants to support the continued growth of research and curriculum pilot programs. As the organization launched a subscription-based curriculum in August 2015, the SMARTS Online Executive Function Curriculum, I actively collaborated in weekly team meetings and brainstorming sessions on marketing and product development. I supported the curriculum development itself through data entry and analysis, helping to implement and improve the program, which had been piloted in multiple locations the previous year.

Tufts University

Working both at the Tufts site in Medford and the Community Corps site in Boston, I organized and created materials for Corps Members to use effectively in the classroom. In the Boston office, I re-invigorated and re-purposed many of the supplies used in the classroom to be more effective for both the older corps members and the diverse students' needs. I also provided general office support, updating social media, maintaining book and supply inventories, and handling communication with current Corps Members and recruiting future ones.

Tufts University

Working in a low-income neighborhood preschool in Somerville's Winter Hill neighborhood, I collaborated with a 6-person team twice per week to implement an intentional curriculum. The curriculum was designed to provide vocabulary exposure and other language and literacy tools to promote success in Kindergarten and encourage a lifelong love of learning. As a Corps Member, I was able to provide consistent individualized attention to students throughout the entire year, creating a relationship of trust and acting as a mentor to a group of 3 children. As part of an intense series of trainings, I used the language and literacy development training to communicate with non-native English speaking students and younger learners. I also was able to use my training to support my team role as family outreach coordinator to create dual-language newsletters and other consistent outreach programs.

Working in a probate and estate focused law firm, I supported the bookkeeper by balancing the monthly books, tracking all billable hours, and maintaining the legal library. In a highly confidential setting, I also worked directly with the senior partners on projects for specific cases, doing a little bit of research into old files and past decisions.
