After all- I've been in your shoes and I am living proof that with the right tools and knowledge, even the most analytical and skeptical leaders can communicate and manage relationships in ways that make other people feel good.Dedicated to helping others live the Marine Corps maxim, “Know yourself and seek self-improvement,” I'm a retired military officer with broad experience as a leadership coach and facilitator. I am also an authority on interpersonal communications and conflict, having learned a lot of valuable lessons from my own struggles with relating to others. In fact, after a particularly tumultuous experience leading the Marines Corps’ all-women 4th Recruit Training Battalion, some spectacular results, and a very public firing, my own journey of self-reflection led me back to school to study the neuroscience of leadership and change, conflict, and emotional intelligence, so I could learn how to better communicate with and lead people.My exploration of my own emotional intelligence blindspots helped me understand that true leadership requires vulnerability, empathy, and a keen awareness of what makes the self and other people tick. I use my own lessons learned and the latest neuroscience, social science, and psychology research as powerful tools to help C-suite, VP, and high potential leaders communicate in brain friendly ways and be more introspective and accountable. I also help leaders reframe how they view and manage conflict and improve their self-awareness and self-management skills so they can develop strong relationships and excel.
