I am also an authority on interpersonal communications and conflict, having learned a lot of valuable lessons from my own struggles with relating to others. In fact, after a particularly tumultuous experience leading the Marines Corps’ all-women 4th Recruit Training Battalion, some spectacular results, and a very public firing, my own journey of self-reflection led me back to school to study the neuroscience of leadership and change, conflict, and emotional intelligence, so I could learn how to better communicate with and lead people.My exploration of my own emotional intelligence blindspots helped me understand that true leadership requires vulnerability, empathy, and a keen awareness of what makes the self and other people tick. I use my own lessons learned and the latest neuroscience, social science, and psychology research as powerful tools to help C-suite, VP, and high potential leaders communicate in brain friendly ways and be more introspective and accountable. I also help leaders reframe how they view and manage conflict and improve their self-awareness and self-management skills so they can develop strong relationships and excel.
