  • City Of Syracuse Historic Preservation Program
    Survey Coordinator
City Of Syracuse Historic Preservation Program Jun 2009 - Aug 2009
In the course of a full-time summer internship, organized an update of the City's Historic Properties List, in which approximately 1800 properties classified as architecturally significant between the late-1970s and 1993 were reexamined. These properties were reclassified into the following categories: Potentially Locally Eligible, Contributing to a Potential Historic District, Contributing to a Potential Conservation District, or Ineligible. This work involved the creation of a brief Survey Update Field Form, the development of a Microsoft Access database to manage the city's inventory of historic properties (this included the 1800 updated, in addition to approximately 1400 additional properties about which the city held information), and a comprehensive report. This report summarized past inventory efforts in Syracuse, identified gaps in the inventory, and outlined a plan for comprehensive survey and inventory of historic resources in Syracuse. This position also involved managing a team of three additional interns who, for six weeks, provided invaluable help in completing fieldwork.
