Worked with Paul Ormerod and Bridget Rosewell, two of the UK's leading economists. Led the development of the network analytics business at Volterra, a boutique economics consultancy, applying network theory, simulation modelling and complex systems/network analysis techniques to novel domains.Designed a winning bid for the high-profile Manchester Independent Economic Review, to model and analyse inter-firm innovation and collaboration networks across Manchester City Region. This project was selected by a panel including Sir Tom McKillop (Director of BP plc and President of the Science Council), Jim O'Neill (Head of Economic Research for Goldmann Sachs) and Professor Edward Glaeser (Harvard).

Provided economic analysis and consultancy services to public and private sector organisations. Projects included:- design and delivery of a program and performance management solution using balanced scorecard for a leading technology transfer agency;- economic analysis and impact assessment of a $6 million Queensland Government program;- evaluation of i.lab incubator’s operational performance and impact against international benchmarks for incubator-driven economic development outcomes;- development of a business plan and investment proposal for a new technology-based venture for presentation to potential investors, including detailed revenue, cost and profit models.

Advised the Qld Government on innovation policy and strategy, working closely with the Queensland Chief Scientist and the Smart State Council. Lead researcher, analyst and author for two Smart State Council reports: 'Smart Regions: Characteristics of Globally Successful Regions and Implications for Queensland', and 'Smarter Services: Future Jobs and Growth for Queensland'.

Design and development of workflow automation systems including national vocational education certification and automating the interface between a major private stockbroker and the Australian Stock Exchange. Part-time position while completing my Economics degree.

Applications architecture, information systems design and development, team leadership and project management for public and private sector clients. Responsibilities included: - Management of a nine person development team to deliver a large and complex application solution to a federal government department; - Provision of advice on application architecture, scoping, design, quality assurance and delivery methodologies to be applied nationally within the company.

Led teams of up to 15 developers on several flagship projects for Lotus Professional Services. This included three years as App Dev Team Leader on Project DIAMOND for Philips in the Netherlands, the largest IBM project of its kind in the world at the time. Received the Most Valued Team Member Award from IBM, 1999 for my work on this project.Also led the first commercial implementation of Domino.Workflow in Europe and designed and delivered an advanced automated x509 certification solution for a large Swiss engineering multi-national. Other customers from this period included Bank of New York, British Trade International, Deloitte and PwC.
