What I did: creation and delivery of engaging senior leadership communications that built pride and purpose; inspired trust in leaders through transparency, authenticity and visibility; supported key strategic projects and programmes with creative campaigns (one worth £0.5bn); brought together insight to make recommendations which support employee retention and feelings of belonging; built existing and new channels to support enhanced communications delivery; championed ED&I and Social Values initiatives; supported Head of Internal Communications build out function and its capabilities. Role highlights included: increasing Yammer usage to become a core communications and conversation channel that saw 85% of business view announcements (34,000 colleagues); increasing email engagement so all email communications significantly exceeded IC benchmarks (leadership emails typically saw an 84% open rate - 12% points above benchmarks); aligned audiences to generational segments to inform content and channels; shared channel expertise and best practice with the wider team.

What I did: the creation, design and delivery of engaging business communications which promoted a positive culture and built awareness of the business’ strategy, priorities and values; writing clear, concise communications tailored to diverse audiences; delivery of timely insight from multiple sources back into the internal communications team and wider business; running the team’s channel strategy, editorial schedule and calendar; supporting and advising senior leadership, executive committee, and wider business; implementation and management of new communications channels, as well as creating governance structures, best practice documents and training programmes; and line management to three reports. Role highlights: increasing average email open rates from 46% to 74% in 18 months; moving the staff magazine online; doubling intranet visits to 2.8 million per year; and in 2020, the performance of exec communications was +10% higher than the industry average (other businesses saw 9% drop in colleague engagement at this time). In addition, the end-to-end delivery of financial results; rebrands; major change projects, including people change; business sales; acquisitions, product onboarding, listing, crisis communications and line management. I also was awarded a company-wide award for reflecting the core business value of ‘Stronger Together’ in 2019.
