I have a portfolio career as a coach, consultant and facilitator. As a qualified coach I support people to who want to make a life change. I am non-judgmental and supportive, and provide the right level of challenge to provoke new thinking and self-reflection. As a consultant, I specialise in working with museums, galleries and heritage organisations and have nearly 30 experience in this field. I am a strategist, researcher and evaluator, working across the spectrum of organisations, from the very smallest to those of national importance. I successfully build productive relationships with staff across these structures, from volunteers to Chief Executives. Audience development has been at the heart of my career and I am passionate about bringing an understanding of audiences into the strategic decision-making of cultural organisations. My early career was spent creating and managing joint marketing campaigns for museums and galleries across Yorkshire. In 1999, I took a sabbatical to study audience development techniques in museums in America and Canada and presented my findings to the Museums Association Conference. Prior to setting up Wafer Hadley, I spent 10 years at Audiences Yorkshire, as Executive Director, managing the company, and also delivering audience development campaigns, research and evaluation. I have coordinated and delivered extensive programmes of training in marketing and audience development over the years, and I am an experienced facilitator. In more recent years, I have focused on delivering audience research as an integral part of the strategic work that I deliver for Wafer Hadley, and I have gathered a wealth of insight into audience responses to museums. I have the privilege of meeting a myriad of different people in my work, from teenage mums to Chief Executives, and this all builds my understanding of people's different needs, which I use to help inspire my clients to be innovative. I am a member of the Market Research Society and the Association for Qualitative Research. I am very people focused and I like clarity and simplicity. I aim to give my clients the insight, knowledge and confidence to make bold decisions that will help move their organisations (and themselves) forward.
