I am a second year graduate student and NSF Graduate Research Fellow pursuing an M.S. in Soil Science with a focus in Soil Chemistry at Texas Tech University. I hold a B.S. (December 2022) in Geosciences with a concentration in Geology and conducted undergraduate research for two years resulting in two publications (DOI: 10.1039/D2EM00092J ; DOI: https://doi.org/10.1021/acsearthspacechem.2c00227) about potassium adsorption in the interlayer space of newly formed layered double hydroxide minerals. I am skilled in ICP-OES sample prep and data interpretation, powder XRD analysis and phase quantification, core description, photomicrography, lab work, sample prep for EXAFS and XANES spectra interpretation, and scientific writing. My current research is part of the Center for Advancing Sustainable and Distributed Fertilizer Production (CASFER), an NSF funded ERC. I am conducting adsorption studies to understand the soil chemistry fundamentals of wastewater treatment plant products (WWTP) for use as fertilizer. These WWTP are produced by applying novel electrolysis to waste activated sludge to remove any pathogens. I am investigating the sorption properties of these products at the bench-top scale, and intend to produce at least one manuscript in the future. I am a strong communicator and extremely passionate about environmental justice and the use of science for the betterment of society.
