Enrollment Assistant
CurrentAs an Enrollment Assistant, I process applications for non-traditional students. Since I began, Butler has implemented two new degree programs, and I have developed the procedures for evaluating applications for those programs. I use the university's CRM program to manage and update data, and I assist in the interviews of student for special scholarship progams.
Legal Assistant
I drafted and filed legal documents with the court using the e-filing system, billed clients and collected client payments, and relayed confidential information between clients and attorney. I stopped this job to pursue full-time employment.
Administrative Manager
I maintained office books, paid bills, and coordinated billing statements. In addition, I hired staff and assessed performance reviews. This was a part-time, temporary position.
Grants Manager
I oversaw the implementation of a $26,000 grant the society received to make its collection available to the public. The outcome of this grant was the hiring of two temporary archivists to organize, rehouse, and catalog the collections; create finding aids; digitize photographs; and enter collections into our museum software. Now we know exactly what we have in our collections and where it is located. This project was the full realization of what I began as director. In addition to overseeing the staff membets and their progress, I completed reports required by the grantor.
Executive Director
As true with any small non-profit, I wore every hat in this position: archivist, exhibits developer, researcher, housekeeper. I initiated a system of tracking assistance we provided to the public so we had measurable metrics for our community reach. I also led the organization in its first-ever strategic planning session and initiated its initial annual campaign. Some of the crowning achievements of my time were the award of more than $75,000 in grants; securing National Register status for our historic railroad depot; planning and implementing Carmel’s 175th anniversary celebration featuring Carmel native and NPR host Steve Inskeep; began the process of making our collection accessible using a searchable database; developed and implemented a marketing plan that brought about a new web presence and incorporated Facebook; and began a program to train the docents that volunteered in our museum. I was awarded the Rotary Club’s SERVVAS Award for my accomplishments here.
Interim Assistant Director, Local History Services
When three key staff left the LHS Department, I was asked to head Local History Services while the Society conducted a search for replacements. In addition to undertaking my previous responsibilities, I also maintained the departmental budget, planned and implemented statewide public programs, managed departmental databases, and participated in the search for new staff. The department functioned well under my direction and continued to meet the needs of our stakeholders.
Assistant, Local History Services
The Local History Services Department offers resources, advice, and assistance to Indiana's local historical societies and museums.I linked neighboring county historians via small gatherings throughout the state and brought a program element to the historians’ annual gatherings. The results were higher participation at the annual meeting and more meaningful engagement of participants. On the program side, I developed a public workshop about preserving cemeteries, secured speakers and experts, conducted site evaluations, and prepared event materials. This single session grew to a two-series workshop offered twice a year for more than a decade and was the highest attended workshop we offered.
Coordinator Of Training
I laid the foundation for exam recalibration exercises and tutor training workshops, and created and maintained a complete tutor/student database containing curricular information from the previous three years.
