I am a lecturer, architect and artist who is interested in materiality & creating spaces that respond to the human psyche - how human needs & desires manifest themselves in architecture & art. With a combined 6 years in the architecture field, I have acquired a unique skillset, where I am always striving to improve upon and continue to acquire knowledge through research, talks, publications and study. Having just completed my second Master's degree in Visual Arts at UJ, my inter-disciplinary interests include space and motherhood, embroidery and scale, as well as processing trauma through creative practice, through an intersectional feminist lens.Having taught independently as an art teacher at my art studio at Victoria Yards for 2 years, and currently teaching the Construction course to 3rd year architecture diploma students in the Department of Architecture at The University of Johannesburg, I am eager to explore and advance my teaching career and role in architectural education.Within the Construction course I teach, I have implemented new model-making workshops that have helped students to better comprehend the link between design and construction, and therefore improved their results and marks in my course. I am always searching for new ways to teach and inspire my students.My goal is to continue my research in the architecture field through a PhD in the near future. I am looking for lecturing positions where I may be of service and bring a fresh, unique and human approach to architectural education in our contemporary contexts.
