Katherine Keith, Deputy Commissioner of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Agile Practitioner (PMI-ACP). Katherine works with cross-functional interdisciplinary teams on initiatives such as the Sustainable Transportation and Energy Program, Agile Project Delivery in Multi-modal Transportation, Reimagining AMHS (Alaska Marine Highway System), and new Ways of Working in dynamic environments. Katherine lived and worked in rural Alaska, above the Arctic Circle, for over 20 years as a distributed energy specialist, project manager, technical writer, strategic planner, grant writer, commercial fisherman, and operations director. As an advocate for wellness, she commits to supporting Alaskans to build capacity through responsible, sustainable development in communities large and small. After living a subsistence lifestyle off-grid above the Arctic Circle for five years, Katherine Keith went to the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. There she got her interdisciplinary degree in Renewable Energy Engineering. As a certified Bulletproof high-performance and Integrative Nutrition health coach, she works with individuals and teams to establish, reach, and exceed their goals. As a wilderness athlete, Katherine was an endurance sled dog racer, hiker, and Ironman triathlete. She began racing dogs competitively in 2012, ran the Iditarod five times, the 1,000-mile Yukon Quest twice, and the Kobuk 440 and K300 multiple times. She has finished six full Ironmans until turning her sights towards alpine pursuits. As a jack-of-all-trades survivalist, Katherine also is a private pilot.Lastly, Katherine Keith authored her first book in 2021, a memoir titled Epic Solitude, released by Blackstone Publishing.
