I worked with Youth Directors throughout the Chicagoland area. Connecting quarterly to provide resources and support. Additionally I planned and hosted the annual Senior High and Junior High Retreats. As well as, Junior High Mission Weekends that focused on issues of redlining, food justice, and environmental justice.

During my internship I educated patients and families on medical procedures, pain management techniques, and coping skills for procedures. By developing and executing activity plans and medical play, I was able to support developmental growth and increase patient's understanding of their hospital experience. I scheduled special visitors to the pediatric unit and ensured proper safety procedures were followed. I also planned and implemented monthly community events to raise awareness.

I facilitated activities, programs, and events which provided developmental, educational, recreational, and socialization opportunities for children and their families while they were are at the hospital. I led daily activity groups in order to provide normalization and socialization opportunities to school-aged patients. I provided coverage in the Family Resource Center, sustaining a supportive, comfortable environment for families and providing information about hospital resources. I established the standards for and set-up 10 playrooms addressing medical and developmental needs in the new hospital facility, managing the purchased and donated supplies for the Child Life depart and playrooms. I also, trained 15 new volunteers and supervised over 100 volunteers in the activity groups and the sibling playhouse• Managed the purchased and donated supplies for Child Life department and playrooms • Created and implemented activity plans in playroom and provided divisional, developmental, and medical play opportunities in sibling clubhouse

I assisted in a first grade classroom and tutored 15 students with specific learning needs. I created and taught Social Stories to students with autism to build social skills.

As a member of the Inaugural Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) team in South Korea I collaborated with program directors to identify program needs and define roles and responsibilities of YAVs. I taught English to 30 elementary and middle school students from low-income, single parent families. During my year I established relationships with parents and community leaders to provide safe, nurturing environment for nurturing English education throughout the community. In addition, I led weekly bible studies for middle school, high school, and college groups

During my internship I assisted teaching a class that taught parolees resume building, social skills, interview tactics, and job search skills in an attempt to reduce recidivism.
