Work Award for Undergraduate Research (Summer 2013)• Analyzed alkyne and alkene cross-metathesis reactions by NMR and GC-MS to determine reversibility of the reaction for applications to more complex cross-metathesis reactions.• Developed a novel molybdenum catalyst for improved alkyne metathesis.• Synthesized a tripodal complex to functionalize single layer graphene and graphene oxide.

• Biologically and chemically synthesized and characterized a pH-low insertion peptide to deliver quantum dots into cells.• Learned how to use several instruments including MALDI, HPLC, LCMS, peptide synthesizer as well as proper sterile technique and how to work with bacterial cells.
