Contributed to a calibrated, validated watershed-scale model for the Amite River Basin, an inland-coastal system including Baton Rouge, to be used by decision makers, highlighting vulnerabilities and prospects for adaptation. Collaborated with the LSU Coastal Sustainability Studio on projects assessing inland flooding and the impact on the communities, specifically the Amite River Basin. Assisted the Twilley lab in field work and data collection in Wax Lake Delta, an emergent delta south of Morgan City, in the Atchafalaya Basin on the coast of Louisiana.

Assisted in hydraulic model preparation and data analysis, compiled recorded data and calculated wind and wave statistics, created and ran matlab codes for wave load force distributions, and created a bathymetric surface using various data source

2017 summer research fellow at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Water Center Summer Innovator's Program run by the Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science, Inc. (CUAHSI). Participated in a group research project focused on creating a flood mapping framework accessible and understandable to the general public. Worked with professors, National Water Center employees, UGSG data scientists, and emergency mangeners to discuss teh needs of the field. Acquired experience using Height Above Nearest Drainage (HAND) method in ArcGIS, USGS R-data retrieval packages, HTML code, and JavaScript.

Planned and taught physics and astronomy at College Station High School. Observed and collaborated with veteran teachers in other secondary sciences. Practiced classroom management strategies to create a positive and engaging classroom environment. Linked studies to real-life applications and prior experiences to motivate students to learn.

Worked with a team of coastal resource scientists and engineers in the New Orleans Regional Office of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA). Participated in site visits and annual monitoring inspections. Collected, analyzed, and interpreted data and observations to be compiled into yearly reports. As part of the Applied Biodiversity Science Conservation Scholars Program, funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, each intern performs research with faculty member at Texas A&M for Fall and Spring semesters and then completes a related internship. Worked with Dr. Rusty Feagin in the Coastal Ecology and Management Lab, helping with field work for the Magnolia Beach Marsh Restoration project and data analysis for a project studying plant attributes related to the effect plants have on dune erosion. The latter project led to the opportunity to co-author the article The role of beach and sand dune vegetation in mediating wave run up erosion, published in Estuarine Coastal and Shelf Science, 2019.http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.ecss.2019.01.018

Developed communication and customer service skills by interacting with prospective students and their parents in the Appelt Visitor Center and giving campus walking tours. My role was to check-in prospective students in the Appelt Visitor Center, answer phones and emails, and, as a group tour coordinator, my role was to coordinate high school group visits by creating itineraries and corresponding with the chaperone and other departments at Texas A&M.

Germinated and cared for transgenic tobacco plants used for biotechnology research and performed various other lab duties such as making media, pouring plates, washing lab dishes, and operating the autoclave. Also, graduate students and post doctorate research associates in lab mentored me on his or her specific area of research including PCR and plasmid transduction.

Developed and implemented an independent project optimizing fermentation results. Performed solvent extractions and small-scale fermentations, operated the Agilent 6890/5973 GS/MS, and analyzed and reported data. Worked as part of a team performing research and development for Blue Marble and partner companies.
