Energetic, Collaborative Problem Solver, Professional Educator, with a Passion for Entertainment! Elected to serve on the Center School District's Board of Education in April 2021. The goal is to further the district mission & values through policy, diplomacy, data analysis & identification of growth opportunities.I served as a reading, science, & math teacher at Center Middle School. While teaching, I lead the track program & served on the teachers’ union leadership team. I was nominated as a teacher of the year twice & elected to represent Center Schools at the National Teachers Association representative assembly. Being a small school district, I built curriculum utilizing educational technology & created engaging content based on the state standards. I was blessed to learn from the best colleagues & through collaboration, design multidisciplinary units of study that engaged our students. The best part was working with our Center Yellowjacket families & students! I have been scaring the devil out of patrons at Kansas City's Haunted attractions in the West Bottoms from 1996 as an actor, street performer, acting coach, & eventually manager. Gaining general management knowledge, I honed my customer service skills where the applause came in the form of screams!Prior to my teaching career I excelled as an event paramedic gaining experience in public safety, system management, & patient care. My background in medical science has shaped how I view education. It takes a whole child/person perspective to really maximize growth. Mental, physical, & emotional needs must be met in order to facilitate traditional learning.
