I designed and annually teach a class entitled "Genetics: Diseases and Ethical Implications" which considers the ethics of genetic experimental techniques, interventions, and the potential ramifications, both good and bad, for the public.

Beyond my previous role, I now develop interdisciplinary science research priorities with colleagues and leaders from across the University. I then build strategies to engage philanthropic support to make those endeavors a reality, leading to scientific discoveries and innovation.

As the Associate Director of Strategic Foundation Initiatives, I foster scientific inquiry across the University of Chicago campus. My work spans a wide variety of science topics - from genetics to astrophysics to marine biology - as well as the complete spectrum of research development - from risky start-ups to interdisciplinary consortia. The University of Chicago Biotech Association along with representatives from Northwestern University and University of Illinois at Chicago established CHIentist as a network for grad students and post docs in Chicago.
